5 days in Newyork.. here are the details..

After the stunning Niagara we are back to the city to continue our explorations. We had taken the NY city pass which could be used for attractions over a span of 7 days and that was perfect.
NY has random weather and we saw rainy days, sunny days, windy days, cloudy days all in our 1 week there.
We had hence planned our itinerary such that we spent time outside on the sunny days and inside on rainy days.
Day 4 started off with the Flat iron building,  Grand Central Station where many movies were shot, Chrysler building and the UN building. All of them are situated close by and easily do able by walk or short metro rides. We then visited the NY Public Library one of the largest in the world. Spending some time there we then moved towards Empire State Building to enjoy some of the awesome city views.

Day 5 - one of the things to do in NY is shopping. We picked our last but one day here to visit one of the outlet malls. Jersey Garden Mall was the one we picked - it has ease of access with buses playing every 15 mins from Port Authority Bus terminal. This mall houses outlet stores of major brands like Colombia, Guess, Coach etc.

Day 6 - started with spending some quality time at the Central Park covering Strawberry fields, the Bow bridge and walking around. We then proceeded to the Rockefeller centre to see the ice skating rink and also to check out the views of Empire State Building from the Top of Rock observatory. We then took a metro to Greenwich village. Here is where the iconic Friends series Building is. After a few clicks we spent the rest of the afternoon walking around this cute place - lots of quaint cafes and restaurants, this area does have a very chic vibe.

With that we said our goodbyes to this lovely city. Hoping to come back soon!

The magic of Prague... a 3 day itinerary

My fascination with the Czech Republic and Prague started with my dad's stories of his stay in CzechSlovakia way back in the 60s and 70s. Hence Prague just had to be on my list!  I took a early morning bus from Berlin (pre-booked on FlixBus) and landed in Prague around 12 noon at the main railway station. My German number decided not work as soon as I crossed the border and hence I had no internet. I enter the railway station to realize that everything is in Czech! With the help of some broken English and sign language managed to get a new sim (Vodafone was a recognizable name :P) and activate it. Phew! Now I was ready to take on Prahaaaaa...  I had booked an Air B&B close to Wenceslas square only to realize it is a bit of a distance from the happening places around Old Town Square. Tip of the day: live closer to where all the attractions are and that's in and around Old Town Square. Trust me, you will realize this when you have to walk back after a long day ...

Egypt, witness an ancient civilization unfold.. a 3 day itinerary

Being a 90s kid and growing up watching cartoons and movies on Egyptian pharaohs I have always dreamt of immersing myself in this mystical civilisation. Hence we decided to spend a few days in Cairo.  Egypt, over the last few years had had a bit of unrest and as a result we decided to restrict ourselves to the most touristy city - Cairo.  We planned about 3 days in Cairo hoping to get a complete flavour of the country.  Where to stay in Cairo - this was a dilemma - whether to stay with the view of the Pyramids or the city. We chose the city since we did read (and later experienced) that the area around the Pyramids is quite a slum. We chose one of the Hiltons over looking the Nile.  Day 1 - understanding how things work in Cairo! English isn’t a commonly spoken language. Even taxi plates are in Arabic! Post checking-in the first thing was to book an Uber. Only to realise we couldn’t figure out which was our car - couldnt read the number plate you see.. with some diff...

Cinque Terre and its quaint villages.. an Italian escapade

Alright! So after Pisa we went about our one hour train ride to La Spezia Centrale, our gateway into the beautiful Cinque Terre.  Cinque in Italian means 5 and Terre means Land.. the Cinque Terre consists of 5 cute and extremely Instagrammable villages - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia & Monterosso. The regional/inter-city trains stop only at La Spezia and you need to change to the local trains heading towards Levanto. We picked Riomaggiore as our village to stay in and visit the other 4 during our 1.5 days there. Now you can either walk through the hiking trail, of-course with a cost, or choose to shuttle between the villages on trains. Each trail is a 2 hr walk between 2 villages and we hence picked the train as our travel option. Now Cinque is a tad bit expensive on transport - a train ride between 2 stations which would ideally last 2-4 mins costs about 4€ and that’s when we decided to take a Cinque Terre day pass which costs 16€. So after the check-in to ...
